Alicia lived with her sister in the city of Davis and oversaw the expansion of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She was also a divorcee on a mission to find good sex, which seemed difficult. Alicia met Mitch, the director of the local television station, when she appeared on a show. The duo took a liking to each other, but they would not get to Nirvana yet. In their way stood a corrupt mayoral candidate and her husband, who wanted to set Alicia up. Mitch would also deal with a vindictive ex and a spiteful colleague. Will Alicia and Mitch defeat these forces? Will she ever find a good man who also excels in the bedroom?
The saying goes that a princess will probably kiss many frogs before she finds her prince. It is also possible that she may never meet her prince, for who knows what the future holds. The Sexual Misadventures of Alicia Williams, Alpha Female by Ian Dawson is a feel-good romance novel that sparked many emotions. This book would make parents hold their heads and check on their kids because I cringed, laughed, and imagined all the youngsters living wild and free. Alicia was a relatable character, especially in her daily life. She was flawed, witty, and definitely my favorite character. Mitch was also impressive, while Candace was a nut job. This novel also exposes corruption behind the scenes of political campaigns and workplace politics. I loved the unique storyline, the character development, and the author’s writing style. The Sexual Misadventures of Alicia Williams, Alpha Female by Ian Dawson was a beautiful read.”

It is an original piece that moves fast with a whirlwind of emotions and action and explores rare angles of relationships and sexuality. Alicia Williams wants something more exciting than what she has so far got from her past relationships. She loves sex and she doesn’t seem to get excitement from the men she dates. Then in comes Mitch Kessler; he is everything Alicia wants, but he is stuck in a relationship that seems to go nowhere. The experience with Alicia moves him, challenges him, and stretches him. The two are the perfect match for each other. But the past won’t leave Mitch alone and being with Alicia might also lead to him losing his job.
The conflict is intelligently imagined and executed with the expertise of a gifted storyteller. The author introduces the tension from the get-go and readers are acquainted with Alicia, a woman who can be fun but knows where to draw boundaries. She can be domineering, at times, but her flaws are perfectly exploited in this spellbinding rom-com, making her a real character that readers can relate to. The first-person narrative voice allows the points of view to be delivered with clarity. The drama is intense and the lovely dialogue pushes readers to keep on turning the pages. Ian Dawson balances crisp and exciting prose with complex scenes and intriguing characters to deliver the kind of entertainment readers will be looking for. “Ian Dawson’s The Sexual Misadventures of Alicia Williams, Alpha Female is about her pursuit of someone who satisfies her in and out of the bedroom. Alicia’s first misadventure involves Jake, who lives next door in a fraternity house. The next day, she learns that the city council has cut her time for the veterinary building project by three months. To add even more pressure, Alicia has to go on television to speak about the project and the new completion date. Alicia meets Mitch while waiting to go on the air. They enjoy several dates, but both of them have some issues that need to be resolved first. Can a serial one-night-stand woman and a man with a friends- with-benefits relationship manage to find real love?
Ian Dawson’s unique approach to a romance novel brings out the independent strength of Alicia. I found her abrasive in the beginning. However, I enjoyed her bold attitude toward other people and the nicknames she gave them. I had to laugh when she called Mitch’s friend with benefits “Polly Pocket.” The focus on being open in communication is a prominent theme. Mitch’s gay roommate, Eric, and his receptionist, Louie, added strength to this impression. The plot built tension as the perspective between Alicia and Mitch transitioned toward the election show. It kept me guessing when Candace could say exactly what Mitch and Alicia were doing together, almost verbatim. I was stunned by the revelations given at the end. The Sexual Misadventures of Alicia Williams, Alpha Female is a brilliant choice for readers who enjoy well-developed characters in romantic comedies.”

Though she loves sex and knows what she wants, she cannot seem to find the man who will give her the orgasmic experience she longs for. Alicia has had a string of bad dates, a failed marriage, and mediocre sexual relationships. In comes headstrong project manager Mitch Kessler, whom Alicia finds most intriguing. The friends-with-benefits relationship has grown tiring for Mitch, and so Alicia’s untamed ways are fascinating. An instant connection develops between them, while relationship secrets and hidden work agendas emerge in an exciting plot.
Author Ian Dawson has kept the story real and the emotional dynamics of the characters are as important as the steamy scenes, which are secondary to the plot. The fast-paced storyline is solid and holds the reader’s interest. The story is character-driven and detailed, thus enhancing the characters’ development and their relationships. An easy-to-read rom-com novel, it is aimed at mature adults with strong sexual content, profanity, and some nitty-gritty details in between. However, there is a clever plot that keeps the reader entertained and curious as to how it will all come together. The Sexual Misadventures of Alicia Williams, Alpha Female, is a light-hearted tale suitable for any reader open to sexual situations with a strong female lead character.”
