My first encounter with the writing of author Amy Harmon was with the novel A Girl Called Samson, which I read earlier this year.  The Unknown Beloved has made me a fan of Harmon’s work and an avid reader of her novels from now on.

Harmon once again delivers a solid piece of historical fiction centered around a series of gruesome killings by the Torso Killer in Cleveland, Ohio, back in the 1930s.  The author seamlessly blends fact and fiction, crafting a narrative that is intriguing, suspenseful, and hard to stop reading.

Along with the fact-based true crime element, Harmon folds into the story an engaging will they/won’t they romance with a supernatural twist that elevates the often gritty and graphic happenings.

I really enjoyed The Unknown Beloved, and if you enjoy historical fiction or true crime, you’ll enjoy it, too.  A definite recommend.
