A novel that’s too good to put down, Red, White, & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston is an enjoyable read from start to finish. It’s a compelling, funny, romantic, and suspenseful work about two young men – Alex and Henry – with the literal weight of the world on their shoulders who find themselves in a love affair that threatens to upend their futures.
McQuiston masterfully combines Alex and Henry’s tumultuous romance with political intrigue, scandal, and family drama. The author skillfully balances many plot elements, keeping the reader engaged and up late to see what happens next and how everything will turn out by the end of the story.
This is an exceptional novel. Casey McQuiston immerses you in the world of these two men and allows us access to their inner thoughts and feelings, creating a deeper level of connection for and sympathy from the reader. A few times, I got teary-eyed as I read the book; that’s when I knew I was reading something special.
While it has been adapted into a film, I recommend reading the novel first. Casey McQuiston’s Red, White, & Royal Blue is a fantastic book filled with heart, humor, and humanity. I highly recommend it!
