IAN: Hi, this is Ian. And today, I’d like to talk about the importance of research to a writer. Yes, research can be a writer’s best friend and one that allows you to go any place, at any time, and learn about eras, people, events, and locations you otherwise wouldn’t be able to visit.
At first glance, research may sound like something done only by writers interested in historical fiction, but research is a valuable tool that even contemporary writers can use to get facts and details correct about current locations, fashions, vehicles, and more.
The next time you sit down to write, take a few minutes to do some research related to your story. Are there things you learned that can help enhance your descriptions or characters?
Have some fun with research, and see where your curiosity takes you.
Happy Writing, and I’ll talk to you next time!
